My name is Jo Murphy

I am a Creative Arts Therapist.

I believe that Creative Arts Therapists have have an aweful lot we can offer teachers in schools. I changed hats from teacher to campus minister so that I could explore ways we could help students with the ability to persevere, to attain well without a sense of undue competition and to be resilient to the challenges they face.

I hope to do this by modelling ways to deal with stress through spiritual means.

Relationships are very important to me.

I see building just, supportive and empowering relationships as the most important function of Campus Ministry.

My Approach To a Spiritual Life

Originally I was an Art teacher and I still teach Art in a women's prison even now. But I have come to realise that the Arts can be a very powerful way to teach cildren about how to commune with God. I love dance, drama, singing, drumming and of visual Art.

.I became a Campus Minister in response to this desire to use my artistic skills to talk with people about healing and their spiritual life. I enjoy going off to retreats and joining in with student liturgies.

I thought World Youth Day was inspiring because of the cultural and artistic material that was around us for the whole pilgrimage.

I enjoy sharing my faith and look forward to building this blog.
